Gone in sixty seconds

I built Surge for myself first. The reset kept working faster than it had any right to.

Surge started because I needed it for myself.

I have dealt with anxiety long enough to know its shape: the spike before it has a name, the way it lives in the body before the mind catches up. At some point I got genuinely obsessed with the physiology of it. Not the self-help version, the actual mechanics: what the nervous system is doing when it tips into activation, and what specifically brings it back down. I started testing short sequences on myself, just to see if regulation could happen in under two minutes instead of requiring a meditation app and twenty quiet minutes I did not have.

It worked, often enough that I stopped thinking it was a coincidence. So I gave it to a handful of other people and asked them to be honest with me. The feedback came back strangely consistent.

This shouldn't work this fast, but it does.

A thirty-second reset in the middle of a hard moment. A sixty-second sequence to reorient when things felt unmoored. A longer one, ninety seconds, when the goal was not just to calm down but to actually settle into it. People kept saying some version of the same thing.

That is when I knew this was not a personal trick anymore. It was a product. That product is Surge, and it is the newest thing in the studio.

The other things I have built live in the after. Surge lives in the during.

Grief, heartbreak, addiction, the long aftermath of something hard: the rest of the studio is built for the after. Surge is built for the during. It is made for the sixty seconds where someone's body is doing something they cannot think their way out of, and the only thing that helps is something fast, physiological, and exactly timed.

Crane is what makes that usable in real time. Not a meditation guide, not a script. Crane reads where someone actually is and walks them through the sequence as it is happening, adjusting tone and pace to the moment instead of delivering the same thing regardless of state. Afterward, Heron picks it up in AftermathView and helps the person understand what their body just did, so the reset is not only relief. It is something they start to recognise in themselves over time.

Not long ago this was just something I was testing on myself at 2am, trying to figure out if I could bring my own body back down.

Now it is something I am trying to put in reach of everyone who needs the same sixty seconds I did.

Sixty seconds is not long. On the worst ones, it is everything.
