marrow

the river never stops. neither does the practice. relapse is a return, not a reset.

01

what marrow is

marrow is a companion for the long work of staying in recovery. not a tracker that punishes a slip, not a program that graduates you. a place that stays, at the pace recovery actually moves.

it is built for people in recovery from addiction, and it takes the shape of a river. the river is always moving, and so is the practice. some days the water runs shallow and some days it runs deep. marrow moves with it rather than measuring against it.

the category is sovereignty tech. the person owns their recovery, and nothing here is engineered to keep them logging in. the method is the studio's: plain, physiological, honest about relapse, and free of shame. marrow sits among the experiences, beside sanctuary, vigil, drift, ledger, and datum.

02

where it sits in the studio

martori studio runs two engines. consulting and custom builds are the primary business. the portfolio of ten products, split two ways into experiences and b2b, is the second engine: proof of work and a sales asset, not the revenue center. the three-way healing-worlds, tools, and clinical-instrument split this book carried is retired, because it is not what the studio publishes. fieldhouse, a compliance and record system for college sports, is the tenth product and the b2b line's second anchor beside surge. the practice sells one thing: a free listening, then the sketch, then the $500 build day. the old tier ladder is retired.

products ship on their own readiness. there is no shared launch date.

marrow proves the studio can build for the hardest seasons without a single manipulative mechanic. that restraint is the argument, and it is the reason a clinician can trust it.

03

the world

six surfaces, each a plain act rather than a feature.

the passage
the way in. the daily return to the river.
the shallows
the surface for the hardest moments. the one place the first law bends, because a craving cannot wait.
crossings
adaptive somatic journeys, renamed from expeditions, that meet the body where it is.
the steps
the twelve-step guide, held without affiliation. heron guides, heron does not sponsor.
the grove
presence-only community, moderated directly by brian.
the you tab
the relapse doctrine, made visible.
days in practice never resets. days current resets on return.

the relapse doctrine holds two numbers. days in practice counts every day you have ever been in the work, and it never returns to zero. days current counts the stretch you are on now, and it resets gently when you come back. the point is the first number. a slip is a return, not a failure, and the record refuses to erase the work.

the live river now names the tools a person reaches for when a craving hits, the dive, the butterfly, the thaw, and the gate, four that meet the body where it is. and it names the nights themselves, payday, the old number, empty sunday, five o'clock friday, so the hard hour has a door before it arrives. the book should carry both, and the two-number model reads on the live page exactly as it does here.

04

voice and copy

quiet and plain. marrow speaks in lowercase, at the volume of company rather than correction. it never reaches for shame, and never for the vocabulary of self-improvement marketing.

honest about relapse. the copy assumes return is part of recovery. nothing is framed as falling off or starting over.

the three bans, studio-wide. no em dashes. no exclamation points. no wellness language. marrow names the body and the craving directly, in physiological terms.

05

visual identity

one typeface. hanken grotesk, weights 400 to 800, no exceptions. hierarchy comes from weight and scale.

dark-first. the ground is a deep forest green-black, the water runs teal, and the light is warm. clay is the studio signature, carried as a thread through every book.

forest · ground · #0F1410
dawn · light · #ECE6D8
river · marrow · #57938C
clay · studio signature · #B6502E

two marks. the martori gate is the studio mark. the droplet is marrow's own, a fine line of water finding its level.

06

heron

heron is the guide. not a sponsor, not a therapist, not a scorekeeper. heron speaks in four voices depending on the moment, from steady company to direct challenge, and never in the language of shame.

the first law: no mechanic in marrow may mirror an addictive loop.

no streaks that become their own compulsion, no rewards timed to pull a person back. the one exception is the shallows, where a craving is answered immediately, because in that moment presence matters more than principle. the exception is reasoned, not accidental.

the crisis path does not run through heron. heron-sos ships as its own function, separate from heron's inference. if the model is slow, down, or wrong, the sos path still answers, because it does not ask the model anything. that separation is the best piece of engineering in this book and it is what makes the gate line honest.

heron lives here. three functions carry it: heron, heron-route, and heron-sos. the surge book claims heron is live in surge, and the surge deploy does not carry it. either surge reaches into marrow, which would be the studio's first cross-product dependency and needs saying out loud rather than discovering later, or surge's heron does not exist. marrow owns the name either way.

Decide, before it fires. push-config, push-subscribe, and push-daily are deployed. no schedule is attached, so nothing is going out yet. this book has no doctrine for a push, and the first law here names rewards timed to pull a person back. the studio test is the one sanctuary carries: an offer or a leash. a daily push that says the river is here is an offer. a daily push that says day forty-seven, do not break it, is a leash in recovery language. the good news is the cron is not attached. decide now rather than after.
Reconcile heron's count. this book gives heron four voices, and the live site gives heron six doors. decide whether the four registers grew into six surfaces or the copy drifted, and set one number the product and the book both use.
Fix a broken promise. the live promises block reads healing never gated, on your device, crisis never waits, and then weak labelled weak, which is garbled and is not a line a person can read. rewrite the fourth so it says plainly what it means, that nothing here labels a person weak.

07

the doctrine

the river never stops. marrow is not a program that ends. it is tended, because recovery is a practice rather than a finish line.

relapse is a return. the record keeps the work. days in practice is the true number, and it is the one marrow protects.

the first law, with one reasoned exception. nothing mirrors an addictive loop, except the shallows, where an unanswered craving would cost more than the principle it breaks.

what is paid, and what is never gated. marrow takes money. checkout, the billing portal, and the webhook are live. the line here is not negotiable: the shallows are never behind the wall. a craving does not check a subscription. the passage, the shallows, the relapse doctrine, and the crisis path are free and stay free. what money buys is room, not rescue. a recovery product that gated the answer to a craving would be the precise predatory shape this studio exists to argue against, and it would take the rest of the portfolio down with it.

sovereignty. the person owns the work. marrow is built to be leaned on in the hard hour and outgrown in the good ones.

08

the roadmap

marrow ships when it is ready, not on a date. the gate below is the condition for launch. dates are working targets, held loosely under the gate. the shared september launch is retired.

version history

v6.2august 29, 2026the tools, named. reconciled against the live marrows.io deploy. carries the four tools the site now names, the dive, the butterfly, the thaw, and the gate, and the named nights, payday, the old number, empty sunday, five o'clock friday. flags heron's count, four voices in the book against six doors on the site, and a broken fourth promise on the live page that reads weak labelled weak. no doctrine change. the hand-upload gate item and the push decision from v6.0 still stand and should be re-checked against the current deploy.
v6.1july 25, 2026the count and the split. portfolio corrected to ten with fieldhouse named, and the three-way taxonomy retired for the live two-way split of experiences and b2b. marrow placed among the experiences. no doctrine change and no product change: the relapse doctrine, the shallows as the one permitted bend, and the hand-upload gate item all stand exactly as v6.0 wrote them. the repo is still not connected as of this edition.
v6.0july 16, 2026the hand-upload. reconciled against the live deploy rather than against memory. records that marrows.io is deployed by hand with no commit, no source, and no secret scan, alone in the portfolio, and puts connecting the repo first on the gate. states what is paid and rules the shallows permanently free. names heron-sos as its own function and the reason the crisis line is honest. opens the push question while the cron is still unattached. notes that surge claims a heron it does not deploy. portfolio corrected to nine, the build day named. the relapse doctrine is untouched.
v5.1july 10, 2026this refresh. roadmap re-cut to a readiness gate, with the median.co ios path made explicit. studio context confirmed consulting-first. additions and closures, no doctrine shift.
v5.0july 1, 2026the july doctrine sweep. retired the shared september launch. confirmed consulting and custom builds as the primary business.
v4.0june 2026all six surfaces documented for the first time. heron's four voices. the shallows exception reasoned.
v3.0june 2026the droplet. the first edition where documented and live identity agree. hanken migration.
v2.xearly 2026the river system and the relapse doctrine first defined.
